Only 29% high-risk newborns in Punjab get Hepatitis B protection

Official records under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme show that during the financial year 2025–26, up to Dec, only 287 out of 995 newborns born to HBsAg-positive mothers received HBIG within 24 hours of birth. This translated to a coverage of just 28.8%.
